Our Method
Conversation first.
Grammar catches up.
Most classes teach you to pass a grammar test. Ours get you talking — with teachers, in real time — from the very first session.
Speaking from day one
You're building full sentences in your first class — mistakes included, and welcomed.
100% native teachers
Teachers born and raised in Nicaragua, based in and around San Juan del Sur, several with 15+ years of teaching experience.
Built around one-on-one
Most lessons are one-on-one and adapted to your goals. Prefer a group? We have a weekly conversation class too.
Practice between lessons
Written exercises after every lesson, plus a growing set of interactive drills by level.
Our Story
It goes back two generations, and one porch in San Juan del Sur.
Our roots trace back to the first Spanish school in San Juan del Sur, founded by a mother who trained her own daughters — and a generation of local teachers — in the craft. In 2015, a small group of those native teachers came together to build a more accessible, video-based way to teach: real one-on-one lessons, over a real internet connection, at a fraction of the usual cost. Arena Spanish School launched the following year. A decade on, we've taught thousands of students from around the world to actually hold a conversation in Spanish — and we're still run day-to-day by native Nicaraguan teachers, not a corporation.
